13Moon Walk 4 Peace, Engaging Communities Across America,

Brings its Universal Message of Peace to A.R.E.

The 13 Moon Walk 4 Peace will bein Virginia Beach September 16th and 17th.  The mission of this national peace walk is toawaken the heart of America, bringing visibility to the invisible and voice tothe voiceless to affect healing and transformation in the way we relate to eachother and Mother Earth.

The 13Moon Walk 4 Peace is a people’s walk and is scheduled in alignment with thelunar calendar, which is, according to ancient tradition, the calendar ofcooperation. “The idea for the 13 Moon Walk for Peace,” says Audri ScottWilliams, Visionkeeper for the Trail of Dreams World Peace Walk, “came when wereturned to the USA from our three and a half year global walk for PEACE. Onour journey from New York back to Atlanta, GA, we were struck by the pockets ofpoverty and disenfranchised communities that appeared to be under the radar, invisible to the general population. We realized our work was not done, in manyways it was just beginning. We decided, before we even made it back home toAtlanta, that we would do a walk in the USA to be a catalyst for healing theheart of our communities here at home.”

Walkers arefrom diverse cultures, ancestry, genders, and faiths. The 13 Moon Walk forPeace began in Atlanta, GA. on 10-10-10, where the Sacred Fire of Thunder, honoring the Great Law of Peace, from Six Nations was passed to the Walkers.  Walkers engage with grassroots groups acrossthe country (over 60 cities and reservations) to raise awareness of issuesaffecting our communities, and to highlight the groups and organizations thatare making a difference in their communities.  The 13 Moon Walk 4 Peace teaminvite peacemakers to join the walkers as they complete their 13 month walk on 11-11-11 in Atlanta.  Closing ceremonies on 11-12-11 will formallyrecognize the Peacemakers Walk of Honor, as a tribute to unsung heroes acrossAmerica.
