On our walk out of Tampa towards Tallahassee, we met many kindred spirits along the trail. One day, three turtles crossed our path, including this one that was just walking right down the sidewalk.
Turtle is a true symbol of our walk. We, like the turtle, walk slowly with our hearts to Mother Earth. We carry our home along with us. We walk with perseverance. We embrace the grace that is evident all around us. From the first day we embarked on this journey, turtles have been showing up to encourage and inspire us.
Further down the trail, we crossed paths with another kindred spirit, who has been riding his bike across the country and was heading towards West Palm Beach where he started a year or so ago. It was a real treat to talk to someone who embraced the simple life to live a dream. He told us about a women, with only one leg, who was walking around the perimeter of the United States that he met up the road.
And less than 15 minutes later, we crossed paths with Carol Cruise and her assistant Wendi. Carol has been walking since January, 2002 and was heading towards Miami where she will complete her nine-year faith walk. Carol may join us in Ohio this summer. It was really encouraging to meet up with these kindred spirits who were so close to the completion of their journeys when we are just a month into ours. What a blessing to know that there are kindred spirits all over who are living life passionately and walking the walk.
