When the 13 Moon Walk 4 Peace Walkers arrived in the St. Petersburg area, not only did they visit the Sacred Lands, they visited the Bartlett Park Community Garden to see the wonderful work that Andrea Hildebran, founder of Green Florida, is doing to bring community together to create green spaces in urban areas.
The garden was founded as a way to beautify the neighborhood, provide healthy nutritious affordable food, and to educate young people. And our experience showed us that the garden is a success.
Gardens like the Bartlett Park Community Garden become a success when there is enough community involvement to make the work maintaining a large green space managable and when there is a passionate organizer or group behind the project.

In the long run it is a small investment to make for a community’s health and for the future.
